“How to Create Accessible podcasts”

Designed using the ADDIE model, the goal of this creative work project was to design and develop an effective instructional unit that allows staff of the Disability Programs and Resource Center at San Francisco State University to grasp the essentials of how to create accessible podcasts.

I chose to undertake this project because of my interest in the use of emerging technologies for educational purposes, and because of the importance of examining and addressing issues like accessibility, which arise from the use of these technologies. The learning outcome of this instructional unit is procedural knowledge. In order to develop effective procedural instruction, I designed and developed the unit based on Gagne’s Theory of Instruction by following Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction (Driscoll, 2000).

As an instructional designer, this creative work project enabled me to use my research, instructional design, writing and project management skills, while allowing me to gain valuable knowledge from my interaction with Subject Matter Experts, SF State faculty, staff, and students, and from my project advisor and committee.
